This Privacy Policy explains how Lario collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website, macOS desktop app, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
2. Audio Processing and Storage
The Lario real-time audio engine runs natively on your Mac. Voice activity detection, voice shaping (adaptive gain, de-esser, envelope smoothing), stutter smoothing, and the interruption shield all execute on-device. No audio is streamed to Lario servers for live processing. Recorded sessions and computed analysis are stored locally in the desktop app. Our backend only stores lightweight session metadata. Start time, end time, duration, and the plan tier used at the time of the session. To enforce plan limits and produce usage records. We do not retain copies of your audio, transcripts, or analysis on our servers, and we do not train AI models on your content.
3. Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to operate and support the Services.
- Account Data: email address and account credentials
- Billing Data: subscription metadata processed by our payment processor (such as Stripe or Paddle)
- Session Metadata: session start time, end time, duration, and plan tier at the moment the session ran
- Usage Data: aggregated product usage, performance, and diagnostic logs
- Support Data: information you choose to share when you contact support
4. How We Use Information
We use the data we hold for a narrow set of operational purposes.

5. Optional AI Provider Integrations
Post-session insights are optional. If you enable them, the desktop app calls the AI provider you select. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or OpenRouter. Directly from your machine, using credentials you supply. Lario does not proxy or relay AI calls; your prompt and your API key never pass through our backend. The provider's own privacy and data-handling terms apply once a request leaves your device.
6. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We share limited account, billing, and diagnostic data with trusted service providers (payment, analytics, infrastructure, and support) under contractual confidentiality and security obligations, or when required by law. We do not share session content because the backend never holds it.
7. Cookies and Analytics
The website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to remember your language preference, support analytics, and run essential functionality. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies via the in-page banner; declining keeps strictly necessary cookies only.
8. Data Retention and Security
We retain personal data only as long as needed for legitimate business and legal purposes. We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal data.
